Peer social support is one of the supports that can help individuals to have good
resilience. This study was intended to determine the relationship between peer
social support and early adolescent resilience of SMP Negeri 55 Palembang
students. This research is a quantitative study with correlational method with a
sample of 147 students from 233 population taken using simple random sampling
technique. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire with 5 alternative
answers, consisting of a peer social support scale and a resilience scale. The data
analysis used in this study is Pearson Product Moment. The results of data analysis
showed that seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 55 Palembang had a level of
peer social support in the moderate category, namely 57 students or a percentage
of 39% and a level of resilience in the low category, namely 51 students or a
percentage of 35%. The correlation coefficient ( ) value of 0.421 as and
of 0.162 from 147 respondents with a significance error rate of 5%, so it can
be concluded that there is a positive relationship between peer social support and
early adolescent resilience of SMP Negeri 55 Palembang students. This means that
the higher the social support of peers, the higher the resilience. It is expected for
counseling teachers to maximize guidance and counseling services for students.
