Wheel slip is one of the factors that hinder the performance of hand tractors. High wheel slip will affect the time required to complete one pass as a result it will be longer, so the fuel required will be more. This study aims to determine the Performance Test of Iron Wheel Dragonfly Type Hand Tractor on Ploughing in Dry Land with Variations on Water Content and Ballast Load against wheel slip. This research will be conducted at the Laboratory of Machinery, Soil and Water Engineering and Practicum and Research Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used in this research is the factorial group randomised design method. This study consists of two treatment factors, namely soil moisture content (K) and ballast load treatment factor (W). There are two parameters observed, namely the main parameters and supporting parameters. The main parameters were wheel slip and the supporting parameters consisted of fuel requirement, travelling time, soil turning width, soil turning percentage, and wheel load pressure. The observation results showed that 9% soil moisture content with 150 kg ballast load gave the best results of all measured research parameters, namely 18.47%, while the treatment of soil moisture content of 15.6% and without ballast load gave the highest wheel slip results at 76.32%.
