The class discussion method is a method that involves all students in solving problems with a question and answer process but there are obstacles in the process. The inhibiting factors in class discussions are students who are reluctant to participate because they have fear when they have to express opinions. This perceived fear is known as communication apprehension. This study aims to determine communication comprehension in class discussion activities in class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study were 147 students in class X. The research sample consisted of 108 students from class X who were randomly selected using a random sampling technique. Data was collected using a communication apprehension questionnaire with a total of 28 items. The data analysis technique in this study uses the percentage formula (%) to determine the percentage score of respondents based on communication apprehension characteristics. The results of the data analysis carried out show that communication comprehension in class discussion activities in class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara is in the medium category with a percentage of 71.3%. Based on the research results, it is suggested to teachers to provide guidance and counseling services that can help students develop skills in dealing with emerging communication anxiety.
