EFEKTIVITAS BIOINSEKTISIDA FERMENTASI PADAT BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS MENGGUNAKAN CAMPURAN HASIL SAMPING AGROINDUSTRI TERHADAP MORTALITAS LARVA ORYCTES RHINOCEROS DI RUMAH BAYANG
The attack of the horn beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) on oil palm plantations is one of the main problems affecting crop productivity. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of solid bioinsecticides from agro-industrial by-products on the mortality of O. rhinoceros larvae as test insects. The research was carried out in a shadow house with dynamic temperature and humidity conditions. The study was designed using a completely randomized group design (RBD) consisting of four treatments and four replications, water treatment and insecticide treatment as a comparison were given as controls. In each replication, 10 3rd instar larvae of O. rhinoceros were used. Tests were carried out on O. rhinoceros larvae in the shadow house, each of which was given treatment, namely P1: (cassava pomace + oil palm meal), P2: (cassava pomace + tofu dregs), P3 (cassva pomace + peanut meal), P4 (cassava pomace + corn hominy), P5 (water control), P6 (insecticide control). The mortality of the larvae that were applied to each bioinsecticide showed significantly different results. The highest mortality of O. rhinoceros larvae from the application of pure solid bioinsecticide was in treatment P1 (cassava + oil palm cake) of 82.5%. O. rhinoceros larvae infected with B. thuringiensis showed symptoms such as changes in body color that started from white to brownish to black accompanied by a decreased appetite for the larvae to become inactive. Symptoms of dead larvae show a softened body shape, rotting and secreting fluids and an unpleasant odor. Symptoms of infection and death occurred after 24 hours of application and occurred in several actions. Environmental factors such as temperature and humidity also affect the high and low mortality rates of O. rhinoceros larvae.
