VIOLATION OF THE MAXIM OF LANGUAGE COURAGE IN THE NOVEL LIKE REVENGE, MISSING MUST BE PAID IN FULL FOR THE WORK OF EKA KURNIAWAN AND ITS IMPLICATIONS ON LEARNING INDONESIAN LANGUAGE IN SMA ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the form of violation of politeness principles in the novel Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas and the implications for learning Indonesian. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, a pragmatic approach, data collection techniques using reading and note-taking techniques, and content analysis techniques. The data source for this research is the novel Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas. The results of the study show that there are 115 utterances that violate the politeness principle, namely 18 utterances violate the maxim of wisdom, 17 utterances violate the maxim of generosity, 42 utterances violate the maxim of praise, 11 utterances violate the maxim of moderation, 14 the utterances violate the agreement maxim, and 13 utterances violate the sympathy maxim. The results of this study can be implicated in learning Indonesian at the XI high school level, namely Basic Competency 3.9 Analyzing the Content and Language of a novel.
