PENGARUH EKSTRAK RAMBUT JAGUNG (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) TERHADAP FIBROBLAS PADA PENYEMBUHAN LUKA GINGIVA TIKUS GALUR WISTAR
Background: Several treatments in dentistry often can cause wounds, especially to the gingiva. Corn hair is a natural ingredient that is used as an alternative in the treatment of wounds. Several studies have stated that corn hair content such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins can accelerate wound healing, but their effect on the fibroblasts in gingival wound healing is not yet known. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of corn hair extract (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) on fibroblasts in the gingival wound healing of Wistar rats. Methods: Experimental laboratory research with a post-test-only control group design. A total of 20 male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups. The wound was made on the mandibular gingiva using 2 mm diameter punch biopsy. The wound was applied with the corn hair extract gel with a concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%, and aquadest 2 times a day for 7 days. All groups were euthanized on day 8 and histological preparations were made. The number of fibroblasts was calculated using the Olympus software and analyzed statistically. Results: The highest average value of fibroblast cells was found in the 25% concentration treatment group. Statistically, it showed that the 25% treatment group had a significant difference (p
