UJI DAYA HAMBAT GEL MUKUS KULIT IKAN PATIN (PANGASIUS SP) TERHADAP BAKTERI STREPTOCOCCUS MUTANS (PENELITIAN IN VITRO)
Background: Tooth extraction can cause complications if not handled properly. Dry socket is one of the complications caused by Streptococcus mutans bacteria. An alternative material that is easily available and has an affordable price and has inhibition against bacteria is the mucus from the skin of catfish (Pangasius sp). The mucus of catfish skin (Pangasius sp) contains antimicrobial peptides (AMP), which is an inhibitors of bacterial growth. Methods: This study is a true experimental study using 3 groups, namely using the mucus of catfish skin (Pangasius sp),Chlorhexidine Gel 0.20% as a positive control, and CMC gel as a negative control, The inhibition test was carried out using the diffusion test method (Kirby-Bauer) Results: Of all groups, only the positive control group had bacterial inhibition, namely Chlorhexidine 0.20% of 25.11 mm Conclusion: the mucus gel of catfish skin (Pangasius sp) does not have antibacterial effectiveness against Streptococcus mutans bacteria.
