PENGARUH AKTIVATOR TERHADAP PERUBAHAN SKELETAL PADA ANAK DENGAN MALOKLUSI KELAS II PADA PERIODE GIGI BERCAMPUR (SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW)
Background: Class II malocclusion is one of the most common types of malocclusion and is mostly caused by mandibular retrognathism relative to maxillary prognathism. Class II malocclusion can be corrected with an activator where the activator can stimulate the growth of the mandible going forward. Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of activators on skeletal changes in children with malocclusion class II in mixed dentition. Materials and Methods: This research was a systematic literature review with qualitative analysis of 10 journals. Results: The results showed that 10 journals reported there was changes in skeletal conditions in children, that is the activator stimulated the growth of the lower jaw forward and there were 9 journals stated that there was a decrease in the SNA angle and 1 journal stated that there was a slight increase in the SNA angle. Conclusion: The activator affects the patient’s skeletal changes, thus resulting in the profile more favorably. Key words: activator, class II malocclusion, skeletal changes
