Coal mining activities, especially with an open system (opencast mining) which causes severe environmental damage, mainly due to land contamination and degradation. Mining, which is generally carried out using an open pit mining system, can damage land surface conditions including loss of vegetation, overturning or changes in soil composition, erosion, water pollution, and changes in soil density. Soil density is a process of increasing soil density by reducing the distance between particles so that there is a reduction in air volume, there is no significant change in water volume in the soil. The degree of compaction is measured by the dry unit weight compacted. This research was conducted from August 2022 to October 2022 in the post-coal mining reclamation area which was revegetated with eucalyptus plants (Melaleuca cajuputi) at PT Bukit Asam, Tbk, Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra. This research was carried out using the survey method, the determination of sampling points was carried out randomly using the simple random sampling method with 5 points for each age: A (IUP Banko Barat 2021), B (IUP Banko Barat 2019), C (IUP Banko Barat 2017), so that the number of sample points is 15 points. The results of the average soil density value show that T3 IUP Banko Barat in 2021 has the lowest soil density value of 90.32%, while in IUP Banko Barat in 2019 the lowest soil density value is T5 observation point density of 87.71% and in the IUP Banko Barat in 2017 the lowest soil density value was found at the T3 observation point, which was 83.44%. This shows that as the age of the plant increases, the density of the soil will decrease. The results showed that the average soil density. Based on the results of statistical tests on reclamation land aged 1 and 5 years, the t count was 5.491 > t table was 2.776 so that the soil density showed a significant difference. While on the reclamation of 1 and 3 years, the value of t count 19.717 > t table 2.776 is obtained. And on the reclamation land aged 3 and 5 years, the t value was 9.372 > t table 2.776 so that it can be concluded that there is a real difference in soil density. There is a positive relationship between the physical property parameters of the soil and the density of the soil, between bulk density and porosity of the soil density. Based on the results of the analysis of the coefficient of determination of soil density, it is influenced by bulk density of 57.1% and porosity of 22.1%
