KETERSEDIAAN NPK TANAH DAN PRODUKSI CAISIM (Brasicca chinensis) PADA MEDIA TANAM KOMPOS DAN ARANG KAYU
Caisim (Brassica juncea L.) is one of the agricultural commodities in Indonesia and is used as a food ingredient. A planting medium that can meet the nutrient requirements is required for the cultivation of Caisim plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of the best growing media for cacao plants in support of NPK availability and production yields. This study used three growing media, namely Ultisol, wood charcoal, and compost. The characteristics of compost can improve soil fertility, and the characteristics of wood charcoal can maintain soil moisture. These two characteristics of the growing medium are expected to improve the fertility of nutrient-deficient Ultisols. This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatment levels that were repeated 4 times so that there were 20 experimental units. The composition of the growing media tested in this study included 25 % Ultisol + 75 % wood charcoal; 25 % Ultisol + 56.25 % wood charcoal + 18.75 % compost); 25 % Ultisol + 37.5% wood charcoal + 37.5% compost); 25 % Ultisol + 18.75 % wood charcoal + 56.25 % compost); and 25 % Ultisol + 75 % compost. The results of the research were then tested statistically using ANOVA at the 5% level and further tested using the BNT test at the 5% level. The results revealed that the growing medium composition had a significant effect on N-total, K-dd, number of leaves, leaf height, and caisim fresh weight.
