PEMANJANGAN VASE LIFE BUNGA POTONG ANYELIR (Dianthus caryophyllus) DENGAN LARUTAN GULA PASIR DAN CUKA DAPUR PADA KONSENTRASI BERBEDA
Carnation flowers (Dianthus caryophyllus) are among the most important commercial cut flower commodities in the world besides roses and chrysanthemums. Vase life is an important factor in determining the market value of cut flowers. It takes a few days after harvesting from the farmer to the costumer. The quality of cut flowers may decrease if the time required is long enough and the treatment is not good. Carnation cut flowers have good characteristics in the form of a variety of colors, the freshness period of flowers is quite long. However, carnation flowers also have shortcomings in the form of a long flowering time or cycle, require material as an enforcer, are less resistant to disease attacks caused by bacteria and fungi. This study aims to study the concentration of the right solution of granulated sugar and kitchen vinegar to extend the vase life of carnation cut flowers. This study used an observation method and the research materials were compiled using the rules of Random Group Design (RAK). The research treatment was preservatives to increase the vase life of carnation cut flowers with a mixture of 1 liter of aquods ingredients, added granulated sugar and kitchen vinegar of different concentrations. The mixture of aquods solution plus granulated sugar and kitchen vinegar has a significant effect on the parameters of the time the flower blooms, the time the flowers wither, the time the flowers fall off, as well as the amount of solution absorbed by the flowers. The best solution treatment is given the highest concentration where the flower is able to fully bloom completely, the freshness of the flower lasts longer so that it inhibits the wilting time of the flower.
