KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS SISWA SMP DALAM MENYELESAIKAN MASALAH NON-RUTIN SEGIEMPAT MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN DISCOVERY LEARNING
Mathematical representation ability is needed by students in understanding the material and solving problems. This study aims to determine and describe the mathematical representation abilities of junior high school students in solving non-routine quadrilateral questions using discovery learning models. The method used in this research is descriptive through a qualitative approach. The research subjects were class VII.1 students of SMP Negeri 2 Palembang for the 2022/2023 academic year, even semester, with a total of 20 students. Data collected through tests and interviews. The data analysis technique used in this research was derived from a test by means of which the researcher coded in the table of indicators of students' mathematical representation ability (0: the indicator of mathematical representation ability did not appear, 1: the indicator of mathematical representation appeared), in addition to the test there was an interview which would be made into interview transcript. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that visual representation indicators are indicators that are mastered by students because students can restate information by making pictures to clarify problems while indicators of words or written text are still relatively low which is caused by almost some students not being precise in writing answers questions using words or written text.
