Individuals are required to adapt to the times, therefore the character of education is very important for social life. The ability to control emotions can prevent violent behavior among students, including verbal bullying behavior. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services to anticipate verbal bullying behavior in students of SMP Negeri 02 Palembang. This research is an experimental research with a one group pretest-posttest design model. With the population studied, namely class VIII 2 SMP Negeri 02 Palembang, totaling 34 students and a sample of 10 students, the sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique taken from the high categorization of the questionnaire results. The data collection technique uses the numbers given at the pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique used in this study is the Wilcoxon Test. The results of the research data obtained an average pretest score of 53.30, while a posttest average score of 42.20. From the results of the data obtained, the value of Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) is 0.005 which indicates a possibility that is less than 0.05 so that the counseling service group is effective in anticipating verbal bullying behavior.
