STRATEGI GURU PPKN DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN SISWA UNTUK BERFIKIR KRITIS DI SMKN8 PALEMBANG
This study aims to determine the strategies of PPKn teachers in improving students' ability to think critically with the discussion method at SMK Negeri 8 Palembang. This study uses a qualitative approach and the method used is descriptive. The population of this study is a source of information about the aspects obtained from the teachers as well as the entire number of class XI 38 students at SMK Negeri 8 Palembang. The sample for this research was PPKn teachers at SMK Negeri 8 Palembang, and as a complement to the information, the researchers conducted interviews with 5 students as a sample of the 38 existing students, who would later be selected randomly. Data collection techniques used are documentation, observation and interview techniques. Data analysis used a qualitative approach with the stages of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Based on the results of the discussion and research to improve critical thinking of class XII PPKn teacher students at Palembang State Vocational School applying the discussion learning method strategy. The group discussion learning method is considered more effective than other methods, by using group discussions students become more active in participating in Civics lessons, because it can arouse students' thinking enthusiasm, students can think positively and creatively and develop their potential. Students are invited to convey material, discuss material, how to speak in public, as well as ethics in conveying material, how students cultivate their own mindset so that they can carry out the learning process together, togetherness in discussions is necessary because in order to be able to respect other people so that students can think critically.
