UPAYA NATION BRANDING INDONESIA MELALUI PRESIDENSI G20 TERHADAP PEMULIHAN KUNJUNGAN WISATAWAN MANCANEGARA PROVINSI BALI AKIBAT PANDEMI COVID-19
The island of Bali is very dependent on its tourism sector which can be seen when the level of foreign tourist arrivals decreased and this was the start of the downturn in the Balinese economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. Coinciding with that, Indonesia was elected as the holder of the 2022 G20 Presidency which is an opportunity to restore foreign tourist visits to Bali. This thesis attempts to examine Indonesia's nation branding efforts through the holding of the G20 Presidency. The concept used in researching the case is the concept of nation branding by Simon Anholt. This research uses a descriptive research type with qualitative data. The results obtained from the research indicate that there have been various nation branding efforts by the Government of Indonesia during the Indonesian G20 Presidency, namely through the dimensions of tourism, exports, people, governance, and culture and heritage. In tourism, the government made Bali the host of the G20 Summit, made GWK and Tahura Ngurah Rai the G20 Summit venues, held G20 side events in Bali, and tightened the CHSE program. In exports, the government appointed 5 Balinese MSMEs as souvenir suppliers for the G20 Summit and held a Road to G20 exhibition in Bali. In people, the government launched G20pedia, put up G20 banners and ornaments in various locations, provided training to Bali Poltekpar students as G20 LOs, and implemented odd-even and WFH as an effort to control. In governance, the government is involved in the formulation of the G20 Bali Guidelines and encourages the level of vaccination of the Balinese people as a form of contribution to global issues. In culture and heritage, the government promotes traditional Balinese dances, clothing and fabrics, as well as traditional food. The impact of the successful implementation of the G20 Presidency can be felt directly by the Bali tourism sector with a significant increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals at the end of 2022.
