The Palembang city has been synonymous with holding sporting events since 2004, namely the National Sports Week (PON). This is because the City of Palembang already has adequate infrastructure for organizing sports activities on an international scale. Because of this, Jakabaring Sport City (JSC) exists as a forum for sports activities that take place in Palembang. The many sporting events held in Palembang City attract tourists. Departing from this phenomenon, this research was conducted with the aim of knowing the antecedents of visiting tourists to Palembang City as a Sports City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that the antecedents of visiting tourists to Palembang City are based on the reputation and potential of Palembang City as a Sports City. This is driven by the enthusiasm and enthusiasm of the people of Palembang in welcoming the city's reputation as the City of Sports. However, there are also inhibiting factors such as the poor maintenance of facilities at Jakabaring Sport City. Even though the existing sports infrastructure has been recognized as suitable for use in international sports activities, the maintenance of several facilities such as poles, grass and street lights is still lacking attention.
