The focus of this research is to discuss the role of religious leaders in shaping the character of Karang Taruna members, the obstacles of religious leaders in forming the character of Karang Taruna members, and the response of Karang Taruna members to religious leaders in forming the character of Karang Taruna members. The research method used is qualitative with a case study research strategy. Data collection was obtained through observation, interviews with 12 purposively determined informants and documentation. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the role played by religious leaders in shaping the character of Karang Taruna members is through regular payroll activities every Friday night by forming (1) Islamic mentoring groups and counseling guidance, (2) reading Surah Yasin every night. Friday and (3) reading Tahsin or reading the Koran with Tajweed. The forms of obstacles for religious leaders in shaping the character of Karang Taruna members are (1) delinquent behavior of Karang Taruna members such as making noise and disturbing each other during routine recitation activities, (2) lack of funds is constrained by financing such as purchasing consumption and causing some members of Karang Taruna unfocused and sleepy, this causes activities to be disrupted if there is no consumption, therefore religious leaders are less than optimal in teaching, (3) time problems, because religious leaders do not focus on routine recitation activities, but also have other activities. The response of youth members of Karang Taruna to activities carried out by religious leaders, they are very supportive of activities led by religious leaders because there are many positive impacts obtained during regular recitation activities every Friday night.
