GATEWATCHING DALAM AKTIVITAS JURNALISTIK PADA PORTAL BERITA ONLINE SRIWIJAYA POST
Research entitled "Gatewatching in Journalistic Activities on the Sriwijaya Post Online News Portal" described the work process of journalists in the new media era that pursues speed and abundance of information available in many channels are open to all users. This study used the gatewatching theory from Axel Bruns which explained the involvement of readers in information dissemination, starting from determining the topic and the audience’s response to the news published in the media. This study used qualitative research with descriptive methods. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of this study indicated that the gatewatching stage on the Sriwijaya Post online news portal was started from determining the news topic until receiving news by readers. Gatewatching in the journalistic activities on the Sriwijaya Post online news portal shows the existence of social media collaboration in journalistic activities. Sriwijaya Post uses social media in journalistic activities to monitor issues, content distribution, news sources, promotions, and interaction with readers. In the Input Stage, content creator journalists used social media to monitor the current issues that were discussed in determining news topics. The Output Stage involved editorial hierarchy, in which the selection and determination of publication feasibility was determined by the editor, the difference was instant editing and publication. In Response Stage, readers can respond to news through all Sriwijaya Post social media. Not occur discussion and feedback given by journalists to audience comments.
