Chinese ethnicity is one of the immigrant ethnic groups in Lubuklinggau City, which only accounts for three percent of other ethnic groups in Lubuklinggau City. The Chinese ethnic group controls almost all trade sectors in the city of Lubuklinggau. The purpose of this research is to analyze the practice of trade domination by ethnic Chinese in the city of Lubuklinggau, using Bourdieu's perspective through the concepts of habitus, capital and arena as an integral part of the practice. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a purposive selection of informants. The results of the study show that in practice the Chinese ethnicity has adequate habitus and capital to stake in the field. The habitus of the Chinese ethnic in trading has been formed since childhood by their family so that it has indirectly formed honest, friendly, diligent, disciplined and frugal behavior. Having capital, such as economic capital in the form of money and place of business, social capital such as building good relations with customers and distributors of the same ethnicity, cultural capital, namely having a work ethic based on Chinese cultural values such as Guanxy and professionalism, as well as symbolic capital which becomes prestige for ethnic Chinese. The domain also plays an important role in the practice of ethnic Chinese, within the realm there are power relations which indirectly provide greater privileges for ethnic Chinese traders than local traders. This power relation makes the Chinese ethnic have a strong network as social capital, which can give rise to other capital such as economic capital and symbolic capital so that the ethnic Chinese trade activities are superior to local traders. Key words: chinese ethnicity; habitus; capital; arenas/fields; domination practices
