School-age children were an age group that was susceptible to disease, especially infectious diseases related to clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). One of the consequences of bad PHBS was that it causes illness,namely ISPA, diarrhea, worm infections, typhoid fever, and covid-19. Washing Hand with Soap (CTPS) was the most important basis that had been scientifically proven to be able to prevent the spread of infectious diseases so it was important to have knowledge and skills on how to wash hands with soap is properly and correctly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and skills for washing hands with soap at Prabumulih 2 Public Elementary School. This research design was descriptive with a correlational approach. The number of samples in this study were 55 students as respondents in grades IV, V, VI aged 9-12 years were taken using the non-probability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using knowledge questionnaire sheets and observation sheets for handwashing with soap skills and analyzed univariately and bivariately. The results of the statistical test analysis showed that there was a strong and positive relationship between knowledge and hand washing skills with soap with a p value = 0.000 (p ≤ 0.05). It is hoped that the Prabumulih 2 Public Elementary School can complete the facilities and provide extension services regarding the importance of CTPS so as to create clean and healthy living habits for students.
