REPRESENTASI KECANTIKAN DALAM VIDEO MUSIK (ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA VIDEO YURA YUNITA-TUTUR BATIN)
ABSTRACT Yura Yunita created the Tutur Batin music video using a female model with a physical appearance that is far from the beauty standard to campaign for the public that imperfection must be celebrated as it is. In addition, the music video for Tutur Batin shows how women who are far from beauty standard will find it difficult to be accepted in society. Based on the background above, the researcher wants to know how the representation of beauty in the music video of Yura Yunita-Tutur Batin is. This research belongs to a qualitative research method with a critical paradigm and uses Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis and Stuart Hall's representation theory to unravel the meaning of denotations, connotations and myths that develop in it. The results of this study indicate that women who are far from beauty standard will experience discrimination. The presence of beauty privilege is not only detrimental to women who are far from beauty standard but also to beautiful women because they are considered to only have beauty capital. In this video, it still commodifies the female body. Women's physical appearance is shown in various forms by presenting themselves as they are, but Yura Yunita still constructs normative beauty. The body positivity campaign ended in toxic body positivity and women supporting women were only carried out by fellow women with the same physical problems, the rest still showed scenes of dropping fellow women. Keywords: representation, beauty, semiotic of Rolland Barthes, music video
