ADAPTASI SPEECH CODE DALAM KOMUNIKASI ANTAR BUDAYA PADA MAHASISWA PERANTAU ASAL PULAU JAWA DI FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN ILMU POLITIK UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
The title of this scprit is entitled "Adaptation of Speech Code in Intercultural Communication in Students from Java Island studying in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Sriwijaya". The aim is to find out how the adaptation process occurs in overseas students from the island of Java who migrate to South Sumatra to study at Sriwijaya University. They have to adapt in order to live comfortably them. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a qualitative descriptive approach and data collection techniques using in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation. Data analysis used in this research is data condensation, data presentation, and decision making. The results of this study indicate that the adaptation experienced by students from the Java Island studying in a new cultural environment or the local people of South Sumatra tends to form two adaptation patterns from the theory of speech code adaptation according to Martin and Nakayaman (2010: 324), namely assimilation, separation, integration, hybridity. The students who tend to use assimilation, integration, hybridity and there are also students who tend to use assimilation, integration, hybridity. With the choice of how to adapt.
