HEALTH BELIEF MODEL PENGOBATAN TRADISIONAL PENYAKIT DEGENERATIF PADA MASYARAKAT DESA BETUNG KABUPATEN PENUKAL ABAB LEMATANG ILIR
This research aims to determine the Health Belief Model of the people of Betung Village, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency in traditional medicine in treating degenerative diseases. Data collection used qualitative methods by conducting observations, interviews and documentation studies on the four selected informants. This study uses the theory of the Health Belief Model (HBM) by Resenstock (1996) which explains that individual behavior can be influenced by the perceptions and beliefs of the individual itself regardless of whether these things are in accordance with the existing reality, in its development HBM has 6 dimensions, namely Perceived Susceptibility, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefits, Perceived Barriers, Cues to Action and Self-efficacy. The results showed that Traditional Treatment of Degenerative Diseases in the Betung Village Community, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency was based on the perception of susceptibility to degenerative diseases which then from this vulnerability gave rise to a perception of seriousness. The combination of these two perceptions is known as the perception of threat, where the perception of this threat generates motivation to carry out traditional healing efforts.
