PERAN SAVE THE CHILDREN DALAM MEMBANTU KRISIS KEMANUSIAAN ANAK-ANAK DI AFGHANISTAN TAHUN 2021-2022
This study aims to explain the role of Save the Children (SC) in assisting the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, especially for child victims in 2021 to 2022 after the new Taliban government. Save the Children as a non-governmental organization has actively provided humanitarian responses in Afghanistan as a form of protection and fulfillment of the rights of children who are victims of Afghanistan’s complex humanitarian crisis. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive with secondary data sources obtained from various existing supporting documents, articles, and reports. This study uses the concept of the role of Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) by David Lewis as an analytical tool for the role of NGO Save the Children in assisting the crisis in Afghanistan; First, the role of the implementer through providing humanitarian assistance and protecting children who are victims of the crisis. Second, the catalyst's role is organizing campaigns and collecting petition signings. And thirdly, the role of partners through the collaboration between Save the Children and the NGO Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), and the charity Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). The results of the study show that the assistance provided by Save the Children in the Afghanistan crisis has played a significant role in helping alleviate the burden and suffering of victims of the crisis in Afghanistan, especially child victims. However, the assistance provided has not been able to change the situation of the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan for the better. So there needs to be more collaboration by international actors in handling this crisis.
