PERAN WORLD WIDE FUND FOR NATURE (WWF) DALAM UPAYA KONSERVASI PENYU DI INDONESIA TAHUN 2017-2022
This study aims to describe the Role of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Sea Turtle Conservation Efforts in Indonesia in 2017-2022. The reduction in the number of sea turtles due to various existing factors has made WWF, as a product of the International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), also involved in efforts to conserve sea turtles in Indonesia. This research is supported by using the concept of the Role of International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGO) by David Lewis and Nazneen Kanji. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative which aims to describe the facts in the problem under study with words. The research data is collected from the literature review, online data research and documentation. The results of this research indicate that WWF as an International Non-Governmental Organization engaged in the field of flora and fauna conservation has carried out its role in sea turtle conservation efforts in Indonesia in 2017-2022, based on the 3 (three) roles in the concept of International Non-Governmental Organizations by David Lewis and Nazneen Kanji, namely the Role of Implementers where WWF Indonesia installed satellite tagging on two leatherback sea turtles on Buru Island and installed green LED lights in Paloh District. Then, in the role of Catalyst, WWF Indonesia socialized the use of circle hooks and streamed presentations about leatherback sea turtles, and formed the Nature Warrior and Flying Vet donation programs. Next, in the role of Partners, WWF Indonesia and International collaborate with various parties, such as the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Regional Governments, and other Private sectors.
