The Role From Public Relation of Educational Institutions in Having Relalionship With Media. Communication Study Essay of Social and Political Science Faculty of Sriwijaua University This study examines the issue of the importance of the role of public relations at the South Sumatra Education Office in establishing relationships with online media. Because public relations has a duty to provide news about the organization it represents. The purpose of this research is to find out what role the education office public relations plays in establishing and fostering a relationship with online media. This research uses qualitative method with descriptive research type. The focus of the research is used as a guide to determine what indicators will be studied. Data obtained from interviews with related parties such as public relations staff and online media journalists. Based on the results of analysis and observations in the field, it can be concluded that the role needed to establish relationships with online media has been carried out well by the public relations office of the education office, but it is not fully optimal because there are several roles that have obstacles to implement. Therefore, it is hoped that in the future public relations can increase public awareness of the importance of information and more and more people are placing attention to the education office.
