This research is entitled Social Adjustment of the Elderly at the UPTD Elderly Social Institute Harapan Kita (Elderly Home) Indralaya. The problems studied in this study are the forms of social adjustment in the elderly and the driving and inhibiting factors of social adjustment in the elderly at the UPTD Elderly Social Institute Harapan Kita (Elderly Home) Indralaya. The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze the social adjustment of the elderly at UPTD Elderly Social Institute Harapan Kita (Elderly Home) Indralaya. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study research strategy. This study uses the social adjustment theory from Schneiders. The data in this study were obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results of this study found that there is a process of social adjustment in the elderly, namely (1) Recognition, (2) Participation, (3) Social approval, (4) Altruism, and (5)Conformity. The driving factors and inhibiting factors for social adjustment in the elderly are (1) Tolerance to the Environment, (2) The desire to relate to the Community in the Environment, (3) Openness between Communities in the Environment, (4) Negative stigma experienced by the elderly.
