This research examines the Hypebeast Lifestyle among students at Sriwijaya University, Palembang Campus. The Hypebeast lifestyle has become a phenomenon today as it is seen as a social recognition or prestige requirement to maintain one's status within their social environment. This study aims to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Hypebeast lifestyle among students at Sriwijaya University, Palembang Campus. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study research strategy. Data for this study were obtained through observations, in-depth interviews with nine informants, documentation, and literature review. This study adopts Bourdieu's concept of lifestyle practices. The findings of this study reveal that the Hypebeast lifestyle is not solely focused on utilitarian value but also emphasizes the symbolic meaning inherent in branded items. However, in Bourdieu's thinking, practices such as the Hypebeast lifestyle can also be a form of "symbolic consumption" that reflects existing social structures. Bourdieu argues that lifestyle preferences and choices are not entirely free but are shaped by an individual's capital and social position. This has undergone a shift in meaning among students, where the Hypebeast lifestyle is formed because individuals tend to have a consumptive lifestyle to gain high social recognition and show interest in contemporary trends.
