School Operational Funds (BOS) is a government program to provide funding for non-personnel costs. BOS funds must be used in accordance with its purpose, namely to finance all school activities without any misuse of funds. This study aims to find out how the use of school operational funds in Methodist 1 Middle School Palembang in 2018. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Sources of data obtained in this study are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. In this study, the theory used is the theory of Mahmudi based on how the effectiveness works. The results of this study indicate that the effectiveness of the use of school operational funds for the Methodist 1 Palembang Middle School in 2018 is said to be quite effective, but cannot be said to be perfect. The recommended recommendation in this research is that schools can conduct socialization once a year regarding the use of BOS funds to increase community participation, especially parents/student’s guardians so that a transparent mechanism in managing funds can be realized and schools are expected to carry out a planning stage that pays more attention to the main needs so that the use of the budget becomes more efficient and effective so that every activity related to the use of BOS funds can run effectively.
