PEMBERIAN METODE KANGAROO MOTHER CARE (KMC) DALAM ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN NEONATUS DENGAN BAYI BERAT LAHIR RENDAH (BBLR)
Low birth weight babies (LBW) is a condition when a baby is born with a birth weight less than or equal to 2500 grams. This condition is one of the causes of death in neonates, to prevent it, nursing actions are carried out, one of which is the provision of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) which can make it easier for babies to meet their nutritional needs so that they can increase LBW weight. Aim: Applying nursing care to LBW neonates. Method: The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach to 3 LBW neonates. Six nursing problems are enforced in LBW neonates with the main problem being the risk of nutritional deficits. The intervention given was in the form of giving Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for 60 minutes and was able to increase the average body weight of ± 159 grams/3 days in the three patients. Administration of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) can increase LBW weight because it can cause an increase in glucose levels higher in infants, so that cells carry out proper metabolism and cell growth processes are better which have an impact on increasing body weight more optimally. Implementation of KMC for 60 minutes is proven to increase the weight of LBW babies.
