The use of digital images to improve the speaking ability of the seventh graders of SMP Negeri 50 Palembang
The objectives of this research are to find out whether or not there is any significant improvement in speaking ability of the seventh graders of SMP Negeri 50 Palembang after they are taught using digital images and those who are not and to find out some information related to graders’ perception toward the use of digital images in teaching speaking. The writer used quasiexperimental method in this research. The population of this research was all of the seventh graders’ of SMP Negeri 50 Palembang in academic year 2013/2014 with the total number of 312 graders’. The sample of this research was 36 graders taken from the population by using purposive sampling method. The writer used a test and questionnaire to collect the data. The speaking test was administered to find out the seventh graders speaking skill through digital images and the questionnaire was used in order to find out some information related to the seventh graders perception toward the used of digital images in teaching speaking. The speaking test was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program for window and the questionnaire was analyzed by using percentage analysis.
