The study was conducted to find out whether or not there was a significant difference in expository writing achievement between the eleventh grade students who were taught by Journalistic Questioning Technique and those who were not. A pre-test post-test non equivalent group design was used as a design in this study. The population of this study was all the eleventh grade students of SMA Bukit Asam Tanjung Enim in the academic year 2012/2013. There were 61 students as the sample taken from the population by using purposive sampling approach. They were divided into two groups, the experimental and the control group. The experimental group was given several treatments in 16 meetings while the control group was not given any treatments. The instrument used to collect the data was writing test which was provided for both groups. The calculation was done by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) version 21.00. The result of the study showed that Journalistic Questioning Technique had enhanced students’ expository writing achievement. The enhancement could be seen from the mean of post tests of experimental group (57.48) which was higher than the control group (46.57). The t-obtained (4.02) was higher than t-table (2.01). Because of that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. As a consequence, the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Based on regression analysis, Journalistic Questioning contributed students’ expository writing achievement for 66.9%. In summary, there was a significant difference in the expository writing achievement between the eleventh grade students who were taught by Journalistic Questioning Technique and those who were not.
