Reaching writing by using picturee-based activities to the eleventh grade students of SMA N 8 Palembang
The objectives of this study were to find out (1) whether or not there is a significant difference in English writing ability of the eleventh grade students of SMA N 8 Palembang after they were taught by using picture-based activities?, (2) which activities (picture memory game, describing picture, making decision, and before and after) that can mostly increase students’ interest in doing the writing activities. The population was the eleventh grade students of SMA N 8 Palembang. The sample was the class of XI IPA 3 that consist of fourty students who were taken by purposive sampling technique. This study was experimental. The design of this study was one group, pretest posttest design. The data were collected through pretest and posttest, then scored by two raters, then SPSS 21 was used in analyzing the data. The findings showed that (1) there was a significant difference in English writing ability of the students after they were taught by using picture based activities, (2) describing picture was the activities that can mostly increase students’ interest in doing writing activities. To show the value of the results of this research, some interpretations are presented and conclusions and suggestion are drawn.
