The correlation between the use of ict and motivation of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang in learning english
The title of this thesis is “The Correlation between the Use of ICT and Motivation of the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang in Learning English.” Therefore, the main objective of this study was to identify the use of ICT toward their motivation in learning English. The sample of this study was 52 students that were taken randomly from the second grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang in academic year 2013/2014. The method of the study was used a descriptive method with correlation study. The data were collected by using the use of ICT questionnaires and motivation in learning English questionnaire. The results of the questionnaires were analyzed by using percentage and SPSS method by using Likerts Scale formula. Based on the results of the data, the mean score of the use of ICT was 84.83, and the mean score of students’ motivation was 52.08. The standard deviation score of the use of ICT was 4.373, and the standard deviation score of students’ motivation was 3.366. Since the correlations between ICT and motivation was .000, the null hypotheses (H0) was accepted and the research hypotheses (H1) was rejected. It can be concluded that there was no a significant correlation between ICT and motivation in learning English.
