Vegetable oil is needed as an alternative insulating oil to replace mineral oil, because mineral oil can not be renewed and is not environmentally friendly. For this reason, research was carried out by testing the breakdown voltage in a mixture of the two types of vegetable oil in the hope of increasing the breakdown voltage. The test samples used in this study were sunflower oil and canola oil. The test samples were pre-treated before measuring the breakdown voltage to reduce water and air particles dissolved in the oil. The test was carried out using mushroom electrodes with a diameter of 36 mm with a distance between electrodes of 2.5 mm with a volume of oil used of 400 ml for each sample. Based on the test results, 100% sunflower oil has a breakdown voltage of 27.4 kV. The addition of canola oil can increase the breakdown voltage of sunflower oil, such as the addition of 25% canola oil is 38.6 kV, the addition of 50% canola oil is 41.7 kV, and the addition of 75% canola oil is 57.9 kV. However, the best breakdown voltage is found in 100% canola oil, which is 63.3 kV. It was also found that the lowest moisture content was found in 100% canola oil and the highest was found in 100% sunflower oil. So it can be concluded that canola oil is preferable to sunflower oil based on its breakdown voltage. This can also be influenced by canola oil which is preferable to sunflower oil based on its moisture content. So that the lower moisture content affects the increase in the value of the breakdown voltage.
