This study aims to determine the contribution of social capital in the form of trust, norms and social networks Mandiri Community Self-Help Groups (KSM) in Payakabung Village in developing waste treatment businesses and about the happen problems. This study uses a qualitative method and the data were obtained based on observation, in-depth interviews with 10 informants, documentation and literature review. Then, analyzed using the concept of social capital from Robert D. Putnam. The results of the study indicate that the contribution of social capital 2 Universitas Sriwijaya is in the form of trust in the form of good communication and a sense of solidarity to achieve common goals, the contribution of norms is indicate in the form of the commitment of group members to follow the applicable rules and as a behavioral control in behaving and acting, while the form of embodiment of social network contribution is indicate by groups that get cooperation networks. The obstacles experienced by the group in carrying out their business were constraints on product marketing and production facilities which were still limited.
