KERJA SAMA INDONESIA DAN AUSTRALIA DALAM PENANGGULANGAN TERORISME (STUDI MENGATASI PENYALAHGUNAAN MEDIA ONLINE UNTUK TUJUAN TERORISME)
Current technological sophistication makes it easy for people to communicate with each other from great distances and obtain various information quickly. In seeking information and communicating, people use online media or social media. The increase in online activity and technological sophistication is a new opportunity for terrorists to carry out their actions. This threat is called cybercrime. The Indonesian government is aware of this and has tried to prevent and overcome online or social media abuse by cooperating with Australia. Indonesia and Australia have collaborated on terrorism issues. The two countries have made various efforts to overcome cyber crimes committed by terrorists. Therefore, this study discusses the form of cooperation between the two countries in countering terrorism by overcoming the misuse of online media for terrorism purposes. In this study, the writers used the concept of Horizontal Model Cooperation by Didier Bigo to describe the cooperation between the two countries. This concept describes the form of cooperation between Indonesia and Australia and the steps of this cooperation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research design. The results obtained from this research are preceded by agreements made by Indonesia and Australia, such as the Lombok Threaty and the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries regarding counter-terrorism and violence-based extremism. Then, this study explains Indonesia's goals in cooperation, namely increasing intelligence, strengthening the role of law enforcement, and reducing terrorists. This research also explains the important actors in the cooperation between the two countries. In practice, Indonesia and Australia carry out cooperation such as information exchange, bilateral consultations, and joint training programs to improve cyber security and law enforcement capabilities in dealing with cyber crimes. These matters are important elements of cooperation between Indonesia and Australia in combating cyber crimes committed in online media and the internet.
