MOBILITAS SOSIAL ANTAR GENERASI PEMBUDIDAYA SARANG WALET DI DESA KEPAYANG KECAMATAN BAYUNG LENCIR KABUPATEN MUSI BANYUASIN
This research focuses on discussing the process and direction of social mobility between generations of swallow nest cultivators in Kepayang Village, Bayung Lencir, Musi Banyuasin. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe social mobility between generations of swallow nest cultivators in Kepayang Village, Bayung Lencir District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. This research used a descriptive qualitative method with a case study research strategy. This study uses the concept of Pattinasarany (2016) and the theory of Paul B. Horton and Chester L Hunt (2004). The data were obtained from 10 informants through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the process of social mobility between generations of swallow nest cultivators in Kepayang Village experienced differences between the parent generation and the children's generation, in which the parents' education was quite less than their children's, the opportunity aspect greatly influenced the social mobility that occurred, in terms of family background the lack of interest in children taking advantage of existing opportunities, and in terms of social capital also differed between parents and children on the basis of the work they were doing. Then, in the direction of social mobility between generations of swallow's nest cultivators in Kepayang Village, there were 4 families that experienced an increase in vertical social mobility because the community saw that the social status achieved was quite good compared to the previous generation. Then there was one family that experiences downward vertical social mobility due to a lack of satisfaction in children with their social status in society by comparing themselves to the social status of their parents.
