This research focuses on discussing the background and impact on FISIP students at Sriwijaya University who experience fatherlessness. Someone who feels fatherless will lose the important roles of a father, such as giving affection, playing, protecting and other important roles that should be implemented in the family. The purpose of this research is to analyze and understand the fatherless phenomenon in FISIP students at Sriwijaya University. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological research strategy. This study uses the theory of Behaviorism from John B Watson. Data obtained by 9 informants, documentation, and literature study. The results showed that the background of Sriwijaya University FISIP students who experienced fatherlessness was the absence of a father's role because their parents were divorced, their parents were still complete but there was no father's role felt and they could not communicate well with their father, and their father had died. Meanwhile, the impact of FISIP students at Sriwijaya University who experienced fatherlessness was that students became independent, emotionally unstable, smoked, attempted suicide, were afraid to settle down, and lacked self-confidence.
