PENGARUH VARIASI CAMPURAN BAHAN BAKAR PERTAMAX-ETANOL TERHADAP PERFORMANSI MOTOR BAKAR 4 LANGKAH
Increasing consumption of fuel oil occurred in various regions in the world. However, world oil reserves decrease from year to year so that they become scarce and cause oil prices to soar. One method to reduce fuel use is to use alternative fuels such as ethanol. Ethanol fuel can be used by mixing it with fossil fuels or without (pure) mixture. This study aims to determine the effect of a mixture of Pertamax fuel with an alternative fuel, namely Ethanol, on a 4 stroke combustion engine. Engine performance testing was carried out with various mixtures of Pertamax and ethanol fuel (E0, E20, E40, E60, E80, E100) at 1500 rpm, 2000 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3000 rpm and 3500 rpm. The test was carried out on a dynamometer prony brake which is connected to a balance to measure the amount of load at each engine speed, the measurement of fuel consumption is carried out by measuring the length of time the consumption of 5 ml fuel in the fuel tube. The engine performance parameters tested include torque, power, brake specific fuel consumption and thermal efficiency. The results showed that the use of ethanol as a mixture of Pertamax fuel was able to increase torque values by 27% (E60), power by 27% (E60), reduce BSFC values by 30% (E60) and increase thermal efficiency by 11% (E80).
