Kenya is a developing country that has a high poverty rate in rural areas. IFAD as an organization engaged in poverty and rural poverty in developing countries has an obligation to assist in addressing rural poverty in these countries. This study aims to analyze the role of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in overcoming rural poverty in Kenya. The method used in this study is qualitative-descriptive which is a method that is oriented towards the phenomena that occur and in this method will produce written descriptive data. Data sources researchers use secondary data sources which are sources of information that already exist and are used in research. This study uses a concept of the role of international organizations proposed by Clive Archer as a rationale for research. The results of this study indicate that IFAD has succeeded in carrying out its duties in accordance with the 3 roles of international organizations, namely as an instrument, IFAD has become a tool as an intermediary for the Kenyan state to achieve its national interests, namely overcoming rural poverty in its country; as an arena, where IFAD is a place for negotiations and collaboration as well as a place for discussion forums to discuss issues regarding rural poverty in its member countries, one of which is Kenya; as an actor, IFAD will manage financial and financial resources and determine standards of behavior independently without being influenced by outsiders. IFAD's success can be seen from the actions and project activities as well as programs of as many as 20 programs with a total of US$1,047.6 billion and have benefited around 4.3 million rural households who are experiencing poverty. Keywords: IFAD, Kenya, IGO, Rural poverty
