This research discusses what factors make pedicab drivers survive and what kind of survival strategies are used by pedicab drivers in the midst of motorised pedicabs in 3-4 ulu urban village in Palembang. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection method consisted of observation, conducting interviews with thirteen informants who were determined purposively, and documentation. This research was analysed using Edi Suharto's theory of survival strategy. The results showed that, the pedicab drivers in Kelurahan 3-4 Ulu have a low education that makes them survive with their work, then how to get passengers by waiting at the pedicab base and going around to look for passengers, and competition in working pedicab drivers in Kelurahan 3-4 Ulu with a queuing system to minimise conflict. The survival strategy used by pedicab drivers is due to factors that make it difficult for them to switch professions so that they maintain their work, namely by using 1) active strategies, by optimising the potential that exists in the family. 2) passive strategy, by managing family income and expenses. 3) network strategy, by establishing relationships with traders in the 3-4 Ulu market or traders around the 3-4 Ulu market.
