PEMAKNAAN PROFESI JURNALIS PEREMPUAN OLEH PEREMPUAN PERSATUAN WARTAWAN INDONESIA (PWI) SUMATERA SELATAN
The existence of women journalists is now starting to be recognized along with the emancipation of women. Jobs that were once synonymous with masculine in fact can now be done by women. Becoming a journalist is certainly a tough challenge for women, especially for women journalists who are already married because journalists are tasked with bringing knowledge to society through their reporting. This study aims to determine the meaning of female journalists from the Association of Indonesian Journalists in South Sumatra for the journalist profession. This study used a qualitative method with the approach of Alfred Schutz's phenomenological study of women from the South Sumatra Indonesian Journalists Association. The results of the study show that the women of the South Sumatra Indonesian Journalists Association interpret the journalist profession as a profession that is beneficial, full of challenges and broadens networks. A useful profession is interpreted as the usefulness of journalists in society. Challenging professions are interpreted as full of challenges and demanding responsibility. Professions that expand networks are interpreted as professions that add knowledge and increase relationships. The meaning of the journalist profession comes from the informant's past (because of motive), the informant's interactions with other people, and future-oriented actions (in order to motive).
