Cervical cancer patients who will undergo chemotherapy experience anxiety with complaints of feeling afraid of facing treatment failure, difficulty breathing, decreased appetite, anxiety, and difficulty sleeping. Anxiety arises due to the physical impact of chemotherapy, namely nausea and vomiting, hair loss, and digestive tract disorders. Excessive anxiety will have a negative effect on the process and outcome of chemotherapy treatment. The purpose to apply progressive muscle relaxation therapy to cervical cancer patients. The methods used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach, Selection of patients with medical diagnosis of cervical cancer with anxiety in Enim Room Floor 2 and Rambang Room 2.2 of Dr. Mohammmad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. There are 4 nursing diagnoses consisting of 2 actual diagnoses and 2 risk diagnoses. One of the interventions given to the three patients to treat anxiety is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Progressive muscle relaxation is one of the most superior relaxation therapies used to reduce anxiety levels because it does not require expensive costs and utilizes the process of tensing the muscles then reducing muscle tension and providing a sense of relaxation in the body. Therapy was given for 3 consecutive days twice in the morning and afternoon for a duration of 15-30 minutes, showing Mrs. R.S's anxiety score from 24 (moderate anxiety) to 20 (mild anxiety). In patient Mrs. S. R from 31 (severe anxiety) to 25 (mild anxiety). In patient Mrs. R from 29 (severe anxiety) to 21 (moderate anxiety). The provision of progressive muscle relaxation therapy has an effect in reducing the level of anxiety felt by cervical cancer patients who will undergo chemotherapy.
