Sibling rivalry is a feeling of jealousy that can appear and is usually experienced in children. Sibling rivalry events can occur in children who do not receive enough attention and affection from their parents. The incidence of sibling rivalry can be influenced by several things, one of the factors is parenting style. Good parenting from parents will have an impact on children's behavior. Sibling rivalry events can also occur due to factors from the child himself such as aspects of his emotional development including feelings of fear, worry, anxiety, jealousy, and anger. The research was conducted in several Kindergartens in the Timbangan Subdistrict, Indralaya Utara District. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between parenting style and sibling rivalry. The research design is a quantitative analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 64 respondents who were taken using the cluster random sampling technique according to the criteria. The research instrument was a parenting style questionnaire and a sibling rivalry questionnaire. The results of research that has been carried out by the majority of respondents apply democratic parenting with a percentage of 48.4% and the majority of respondents are in the category of sibling rivalry with a percentage of 54.7%. Based on the Spearman Rank test (rank-order correlation/ Spearman'n rho) the value of sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 which indicates that there is a significant relationship between parenting styles and the incidence of sibling rivalry. The Correlation Coefficient value is -0.395 which shows the relationship between the two variables and is negative which means the opposite direction with a weak correlation coefficient. The determination correlation value is 15% which means that the sibling rivalry event variable is influenced by 15% variable, most of the remaining 85% is influenced by other variables. Suggestions for further research can examine the factors that influence the incidence of sibling rivalry in addition to parenting styles and efforts to increase understanding of how to respond to incidents of sibling rivalry.
