Breast milk contains various substances needed in the process of growth, baby development, health, and baby immunity. ASI (breast milk) is the main and best food for babies that is natural. Breast milk, which is produced during the first days of birth, contains colostrum which can protect the baby from disease. An important component for the survival of the baby is breastfeeding as early as possible, but in some special circumstances, exclusive breastfeeding does not take place perfectly due to obstacles to either the mother or the baby. One of the obstacles is that causes mothers not give enough milk to their babies. In addition to the prolactin hormone, the lactation process also depends on the hormone oxytocin, which is released from the posterior pituitary in response to nipple sucking. Oxytocin affects the myoepithelial cells that surround the mammary alveoli so that the alveoli contract and secrete milk that has been secreted by the mammary glands, this oxytocin reflex is influenced by the mother's soul. The calm mental and emotional condition of the mother greatly influences the smooth flow of milk. If the mother experiences stress, depressed thoughts, uneasiness, anxiety, sadness, and tension it will affect the smooth flow of milk. As for the additional factor of failure to breastfeed which is often caused by the psychology of the mother in the early days of the breastfeeding process, the mother feels anxious if the milk produced is not sufficient for the baby's needs and is not smooth. Objective: To implement an oxytocin massage intervention for postpartum mothers with ineffective breastfeeding nursing problems in the Enim 2 Room, Obstetrics Department of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2022. Method: The method used in writing scientific papers is qualitative research. Results: nursing care was given to three postpartum mothers starting with assessment, and nursing diagnosis of ineffective breastfeeding problems, nursing interventions, and implementation were carried out based on journals, namely giving oxytocin techniques, after being given oxytocin techniques, evaluations were obtained, namely breast milk slowly coming out every day, milk expulsion there has been an increase and the swelling in the breasts has also decreased after being given the intervention, the mother also said that she was more comfortable and relaxed after being given the oxytocin technique. Conclusion: The oxytocin technique can affect the release of the hormone prolactin which will stimulate the mammary alveoli to produce milk and express milk.
