This paper presents the performance of a vertical-axis wind turbine with guide blades using a sharp angle flat plate blade profile applying an experimental study method. The main objective of this study is to examine the performance of vertical-axis wind turbines focusing on the effect of using guide blades as a power-augmented technique. The wind turbine uses three rotor blades with eight guide blades which are configured to maximize the power coefficient of the turbine. The results show that using a guide blade with an angle orientation of 45° is the highest value obtained in this test with a PT value of 0.36 W, CP 0.047, and TSR 0.357. Whereas in turbines without guide blades the value of PT is 0.28 W, CP is 0.037, and TSR is 0.297. Thus there is an increase of 28% in the maximum power of turbines without guide blades compared to turbines with guide blades and also an increase in the power coefficient of wind turbines of 28%.
