ANALISIS EKSPANSI CJ ENTERTAINMENT KE DALAM INDUSTRI FILM INDONESIA
This thesis discusses the business expansion strategy carried out by CJ Entertainment to Indonesian film industry. CJ Entertainment is a multinational corporation owned by South Korea and affiliated with CJ Group. In this era of globalization, competition in the global economy is very competitive. This condition makes CJ Entertainment try to expand their business to make their company can compete with other business. Indonesia become CJ Entertainment’s target for their business expansion after knowing the history of relations between South Korea and Indonesia are very harmonious. Multinational Corporation (MNC) concept is used in this problem, which is reinforced by a global expansion strategy with two indicators, horizontal strategy and vertical strategy to analyze the strategy used by CJ Entertainment while expanding their business. To address those problems, the researcher uses a qualitative descriptive research method and in collecting data, the researcher uses a qualitative data collection technique through a literature study which includes books, reports, journals, news, and official website that are in accordance with relevant facts and sources. In this thesis has found that CJ Entertainment was expanding their business to Indonesian film industry by becoming an investor in Indonesia’s entertainment industry company. Another thing that was found and become their strategy was to acquire a company by buying more than 50% of their shares. Apart from that, in expanding their business, CJ Entertainment also produces Indonesian films by collaborating with Indonesian film production houses.
