To minimise the spread of the Covid - 19 virus , the Government of Indonesia issued several policies , and several policies impact the loss of a person's job and income , one of which is Termination of Work Rights for several employees of the Jambi City Bunga Hotel due to the Covid - 19 pandemic . The purpose of this study is to understand in depth the economic strategies used by former employees who were laid off to be still able to meet the needs of daily life , with the concept used by Edi Suharto . The primary informants are former HB employees who were laid off due to the Covid - 19 pandemic and supporting informants , namely relatives of several informants who worked after the informant was laid off , using the purposive method . The results of this study indicate that there are differences in the economic conditions of former employees ' families before and after being laid off . Efforts used by former employees affected by the layoffs include optimising existing human resources , minimising expenses , utilising relationships . The strategy used is sufficient to balance the economic conditions of retired employees after being laid off . Keywords : Economic Strategy , Economic Condition.
