PERAN MARINE STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL MENDORONG SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES DI JEPANG
As technology develops, fishing methods continue to develop whether it is destructive or not. Japan as a country of fish consumption makes this country vulnerable to marine threats which is overfishing and bycatch. Therefore, the need for an organization that cares about the sea is crucial. in the concept of sustainable fisheries and ecolabeling. MSC became the organization that the author chose to assess how the role of MSC in Japan in carrying out the concept of sustainable fisheries. MSC's blue label through a long and tight certification process. The author collects 3 fisheries associations that are used as objects of this research, the Kyoto Danish Seine Federation Flathead Flunder, Ishihara Marine Product Skipjack and Albacore Pole and Fishery and Marine Suisen Rope. Each of these three associations is the pioneer who won MSC certification in Japan. Even so new problems arise. The most common is how high the cost to buy MSC certification.
